Council approves amended fair housing agreement

Township Council · Meeting of January 2, 2026

NJ RANDOLPH — Randolph Township Council unanimously approves revised fair housing mediation agreement with Fair Share Housing Center. The council adopted Resolution R 1A-26 authorizing execution of an amended agreement addressing fourth round housing obligations. Township Attorney Ed Buzak negotiated two key modifications: Section D clarifies that rehabilitation requirements apply only if required under applicable regulations at the time of extension, and Section G provides that if the Affordable Housing Trust Fund lacks sufficient funds, the township will not be required to find alternative sources such as taxpayer dollars or bonding, nor will it be forced to substitute or replace 24 housing credits elsewhere if controls cannot be extended.

The vote was unanimous among six council members present, with Councilwoman Elbaum absent.
