Randolph approves 2026 budget with 6.7 percent increase, 7.83 percent tax hike

NJ RANDOLPH — Randolph municipal budget rises 6.7 percent to $40.2 million, driving property taxes up 7.83 percent for average residents. Manager Poff cited non-discretionary expenses: insurance exceeding $1.4 million, contractual salary increases, pensions, and social security account for 82 percent of the overall increase. The council simultaneously adopted four zoning ordinances addressing affordable housing compliance with the Fair Share Housing Center settlement, projecting approximately 25 percent of designated sites likely to develop, yielding an estimated 73 units across three overlay districts.
Water and sewer rate increases of approximately $12 and $10.50 per customer per quarter, respectively, were approved to offset the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority's 5 percent annual rate increases and aging infrastructure maintenance costs.
